Barbara Ann (Esckelson) Shotwell-Abbe, 78, of Edwardsburg, and formerly of Kingston, Michigan passed away at Cass County Medical Care Facility on Monday, April 8, 2019.
Barbara was born on February 4, 1941, to the late Herman and Marjorie (Blackmer) Esckelson in Pontiac, Michigan. On August 11, 1962, Barbara wed Harrison Shotwell and the two had three children. Harrison passed away in December of 1984 and in June of 1991 she wed Daniel Abbe and his four children became part of the family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Esckelson and Marjorie Hager; husband, Harrison Shotwell; and husband, Daniel Abbe.
Barbara is survived by her children, John (Lorraine) Shotwell of Edwardsburg, Steven Shotwell of Florida, and Amanda Ross of Deford Michigan; step-children Elaine (Roy) Kreszewsky of Munger, Michigan, Daniel (Cheryl) Abbe, Jr. of Elkton, Michigan, Esther (Arnold Fritz) of Owendale, Michigan, and Melody (Dave) Deming of Pigeon, Michigan; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert (Lynn) Esckelson of Reed Spring, Missouri, Janice Miller of Clifford, Michigan, and James (Chris) Healy of Thomaston, Connecticut.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Kranz Funeral Home in Kingston, Michigan at 11:00 a.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior. She will be laid to rest at Kingston Cemetery next to Harrison.
