He was employed with Piggly Wiggly Foods, St. Martin Catholic School and Catholic Center of concern for over 30 years. After his retirement he continued to serve as a volunteer until his death.
He answered his master’s call on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers, William (Lula), Edward (Cora), George (Nola C), Lawrence (Mary), Clarence, Bobby, Joe Jr. (Ann); sisters, Etta (Oscar Sr.), Hazel (T.S.), Bertha, Dorothy; three daughters, Mary Etta, Sandra Faye and Lavora McCants.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loyal & faithful daughter Bonnie Jean Winfrey, son; Adale (Kimberly) Aaron all of Gadsden, Alabama; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; special great-grandchild (Jatora Bell); a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives, special friends, Pat Smith, Bryan (Bud) & Nancy Utter, Linda; special neighbors, Mark and Angenetta (Snookie) Smith and Rev. Willie Wilson.
