Alberto Abeyta, age 104, a resident of Cleveland, NM, passed away in Belén, NM on Thursday following a brief illness.
Alberto was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, just two months ago, his parents, Bentura and Dolores Durán Abeyta, a sister, Elena Abeyta, a brother, José Arcenio Abeyta, two sons, Rudy and Telesfor and a daughter-in-law, Gloria García.
Alberto was born in Clayton, NM on April 14, 1908.
Alberto was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army and was a life member of American Legion Post #114 of Mora, NM.
A lifelong Catholic, he was a member of St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Mora, NM.
Alberto is survived by two daughters, Dolores Emelia Tipton and her husband, Harry of Bosque Farms, NM and Ruby Elizabeth Blackwell and her husband, Larry of Socorro, NM, one son, Frank Abeyta and his wife, Lorraine of Bloomfield, NM and a daughter-in-law, Josie Abeyta of Santa Fé, NM, 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, nephews, José Arcenio Abeyta Jr., Alfredo Abeyta and Francisco Abeyta all of Seattle, WA and niece, Patty Perdang of Seattle, WA.
Services will be held at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church with a rosary on Sunday evening, December 9, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Father James Sánchez will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow with military honors provided by VFW Post 1137 of Mora at the St. Anyonio Cemetery in Cleveland, New Mexico. Casket bearers will be Rudy Albert Abeyta Jr., Robert Abeyta, Frank Abeyta Jr., Kyle Blackwell, Lorenzo Abeyta and Chris Abeyta.
