Jessie Hartless Abbitt (Jessica) was lovingly know as Grams by both family and friends. Born in Arrington, VA on November 19, 1932 to A. H. Hartless and Morzell Dillard Hartless. She was the wife of the late Jesse Abbitt.

Survived by daughters, Angelia Ogden and husband W. A. Ogden, Jr., of Amherst, VA and Barbara Watts and husband George Watts of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren, Ashley Acree (Brantley) of Atlantic Beach, NC, Erin-Elizabeth Morton (Tory), of Columbia, SC, Jared Watts, of San Diego, CA, Seth Watts (Catie) of Alexandria, VA; great grandchildren, Wolfgang “Wolfi” Acree and Violet-Morzell “Zelle” Acree of Atlantic Beach, NC; three sisters, Marjorie Campbell and Betty Jane Mason of Madison Heights, VA and Jai (Dottie) Lorens of Mount Pleasant, SC; one brother, Andrew Hartless of Elon; and three special nieces, Pam Aadland (John), Sandra Pruitt, and Lynn Glasser (Richard).

She was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Lee and two brothers, James Hartless and Anderson Hartless.

Her favorite hobbies were cooking, berry picking, and having meals with family and friends. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Amherst.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Amherst Cemetery with The Rev. Barbara Watts officiating. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at a later date at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
