SUDDENLY STRICKEN
MRS. ELNORE ABBOTT DIED SUNDAY.
Became Ill Friday, Bade Her Relatives Goodbye Saturday and Sank Into a Comatose State From Which She Never Roused.
Elnore Higgins Abbott died at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the home of her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Higgins, 308 South Sixth street, following an illness of only three days.
She had a chill Friday evening and also suffered from a severe pain in the side, supposed to be due to appendicitis. Saturday she was stricken with paralysis, and Sunday morning she told her mother and other members of the family that the end was near and she must go, and bade them goodbye. Following this she lapsed into unconsciousness, in which state she remained until she died.
Elnore Higgins Abbott was born in Brown county, Indiana, and with her parents, came to Independence in the spring of 1870. She is survived by her aged mother, two sisters, Mrs. Harry Talbott of Coffeyville and Mrs. Elmer Page of this city, and two brothers, Woody Higgins of Neodesha, and Albert of Lawrence. All are here.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 from the Episcopal church, conducted by the rector, Rev. Wm. Haupt, assisted by Frank Jennings of the First Baptist church. Mrs. Abbott was a member of the Maccabbee lodge, which order will attend the services in a body.
