Funeral services for Mary McElwain Abraham were held Monday, August 9 at the Ave Maria Catholic church with Rev. Lawrence Botz and Rev. William Wey officiating.
Mrs. Abraham was born on Aug 20, 1901, the daughter of Frank and Margaret McElwain. She grew up in the Wheaton area and lived here all her life. She was united in marriage to Edward Abraham on Nov 15, 1920. They farmed in Walls township until moving into Wheaton in 1955. The last seven years were spent in the Traverse County Nursing home.
She is survived by six children, Doris Johnson, Encino, CA; Vincent, Margaret Sax and James, all of Wheaton; Marie Olson, Big Lake; and David, Plymouth. Also surviving are two brothers, Charles and Gregory McElwain of Wheaton, 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, her parents, brothers Herbert, Paul, Bernard and Alfred, and one grandchild, Randall Johnson.
Pallbearers were Troy Abraham, Edward Sax, Glenn Sax, Jack Cory, Leonard Zimmel and Marvin Best. Internment was in Wildwood Cemetery.
