ERWIN — Mr. Bernie "Junior" Adkins, Age 78, 142 Kerns Street, Erwin, died Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at his residence.
He was a native of Yancey County, North Carolina, but had spent most of his life in Unicoi County. Mr. Adkins was a son of the late Bernie and Lyda Adkins. He retired in 1990 from the Clinchfield Railroad, where he had worked for forty years as a signalman. Mr. Adkins was of the Baptist Faith.
Funeral service for Mr. Adkins will be held at 7:00 P.M. Saturday from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Larry Edwards will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the residence, 142 Kerns Street, Erwin. Committal service will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday in their private family cemetery, Greenmountain, North Carolina. Family, minister, pallbearers and friends are requested to assemble at the cemetery by 2:20 P.M. Sunday.
