Minister of the Gospel.
On August 5, 1837 Joel Mavity, under the Land Patents Act, purchased forty acres of land in the South West Quarter of the North East Quarter of Section 11, in Township 2, South of Range 4 West, in the District of Lands subject to sale at Vincennes, Indiana, containing 40 acres.

This land was put up for sale by the administrator of the estate
In subsequent years, another parcel of land consisting of 40 acres in Section 33, Township 1, was delinquent in real estate taxes.

Originally buried in the Roberts M.E. Church Cemetery in an unmarked grave, relocated to Patoka Memorial Cemetery. The grave was numbered 0182. Alsey's grave next to him, was moved on November 15, 1976;

Son of the Reverend William Mavity and Jane Antoinette Raison.
Married to Jemima Lindsey, either in Harrison County Indiana or Floyd County, Indiana, and they were the parents of Samuel Henry Harrison, Wesley, William Fletcher, Sarah, Serilda,
Married to Alsey (Elsie) Kellams on October 6, 1842 in Dubois County, Indiana and they were the parents of Amanda Elizabeth, John Page, Emily Jane,
