Hazel Little Abernathy, 105, a native of Magee, Miss., and resident of Houma, died at 11:38 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007.

She is survived by nine grandchildren, Joy Tingle and husband, Mike, C.E. Bridges Jr. and wife, Melba, of Houma, Sandy Scheuermann and Larry of Lafayette, Mike Bridges and wife, Bonnie, of Baton Rouge, Carol Williams and husband, Richard, of Atlanta, David Bridges of Lake Jackson, Texas, Ricky Mays and wife, Marla, of Springdale, Ark., Randy Mays and wife, Kim, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Jane Ann Mort and husband, Mike, of Blue Springs, Mo.; 15 great-grandchildren, Suzanne Tingle Vicknair and husband, Gawain, of Abbeville, Michelle Tingle of Lafayette, Corey Bridges of Golden Meadow, Jennifer Bridges Hebert and husband, Travis, Joshua Bridges and wife, Jenny, of Houma, Leslie Scheuermann of Dallas, Edward Scheuermann of Lafayette, Sharon Bridges White and husband, Lee, Jessica Bridges of Dallas, Scot, Eric and Ashley Mays of Springdale, Ark., Shawna Mays of Oklahoma City, Randy and Adam Westmoreland, of Arkansas City, Ark.; and 10 great-grandchildren, Griffin and Harrison Vicknair, Michael and Molly White, Faith, Shania and Monique Hebert and Cane, Abby and Mackenzie Bridges.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Abernathy; her parents, John Richmond Little and Nettie Burnham Little; two daughters, Nellie Bridges and husband, Ed, and Peggy Mays and husband, Bobby; one grandchild, Vicky Mays Westmoreland; one great-grandchild, C.E. Bridges III; one brother, Dwight Little; and four sisters, Loyre Evertee, Olgie Mae Lentz, Mary Lois Taylor and Roma Dale Allen.

She was a retired school teacher with Terrebonne Parish School Board and a member of Nicholls Alumni Association and Terrebonne Parish Retired Teachers Association.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund; or MacDonell United Methodist Children's Home; or the Nicholls State University College of Education Alumni Association. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
