Child of William and Jennie Aitcheson.

This grave is designated as "Baby Aitcheson" in a cemetery ledger copy that emphasizes burials within lots and blocks, and is one of two Aitcheson burials listed in the ledger, the other being "Jessie.". Both are also shown on the cemetery map, where they are labeled simply "Aitcheson."

Only one burial appears on the main ledger copies, and that is marked as "Child of Wm. Aitcheson." Those listings could refer to this grave or Jessie's.

This grave may be that of Charlie, who shows up as being about a year old on the 1880 census, when the Aitchesons were living in Leadville. If so he was probably born in Leadville, and his death is uncertain-- but it did not occur in Central City. The Aitchesons left Central in January 1879 and did not return until after William's death in 1885.

On the 1900 census, Jennie reported that she had had five children, with two having died. If that is accurate this grave would have to belong to Charlie. If the ledger description of Charlie as a baby is correct, then his death would have likely occurred no later than 1881.

If this grave is another child, and the 1900 census is inaccurate in regard to the number of children born to Jennie and William, then the baby in this grave most likely would have been born and have died before the Aitchesons left Central City, from late 1876 to the end of 1878.
