Emmett Lawrence Adams, Jr., 78, of Newellton, Louisiana, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021, after a long and hard fought battle with lung cancer. On his final day, he was surrounded by his children as he entered eternity.

Emmett was born on January 10, 1943, to Emmett L. Adams and Annie Lewis Roy Adams. Emmett, lovingly known as "Brother" or "Papa" by much of his family, graduated from Newellton High School and went on to some college at Northeast Louisiana University. He worked for Chevron USA for 30 years, and retired in April 1996 after achieving the position of Vice President of Operations for the Gulf of Mexico. He was a hard worker and a wonderful provider for his family. In his spare time, he loved reading Westerns and watching football, especially LSU football.

Emmett is preceded in passing by his wife Sally McDaniel Adams, and brothers Roy, Joe, and Billy Ray.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 am on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, Louisiana, with Reverend Dennis Campbell officiating under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Winn Blanche, Billy Barfield, Daniel Adams, Ben Collins, Austin Savage, Ephraim Hankins, David Hankins, Allan Savage, Titus Hankins, and Waylon Collins.
