Mason City, Nov. 29 - John Benjamin Abbott, died at 4 o'clock this afternoon at his home on East Chestnut street in Mason City.
Mr. Abbot was the last of a large and well known family.
He was born in Chandlerville on June 10, 1847 and moved to Allen's Grove township in 1871. He took up residence in Mason City in 1889.
Mr. Abbott was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church, Masonic lodge No. 406 of Mason City, and of St. Aldemar's commandery of Petersburg.
He married Mary J. Ainsworth on October 16, 1869. She died many years ago.
He was married to Lillian Mitchell in 1916. She with following children survive: Ira R. Abbott, of Petersburg; Mrs. F.A. McCarty, of Mattoon.
Two sons, Richard and Albert, preceded their father in death.
Funeral services were held at the First M.E. church in Mason City.
Interment was in Mason City cemetery.
