Vivian C. "Dolly" Aamold was born July 27, 1940 in Billings, MT to Jack and Vivian Crawford Smidt and passed away October 24, 2021 in Butte, MT of natural causes. She was the oldest of five children.

While waitressing at the ByWay Cafe in Stanford, MT, Dolly met her future husband of 47 years, Roland G. "Ronnie" Aamold. They were married August 14, 1959. At this time, she inherited three young stepchildren, Steve, Gayle and Rhonda, whom she considered her own. Ronnie and Dolly even took them to Virginia City during their honeymoon. (The Quake Lake earthquake occurred August 17, 1959. Ronnie and Dolly remember feeling an eerie, quiet feeling driving through the area prior to the earthquake.)

After living a couple of years in Stanford, Dolly and Ronnie moved to Butte, MT when Ronnie took a job at the Berkeley Pit. In 1965 the young couple purchased their home of 56 years at 400 S. Excelsior. Dolly loved Butte, and she loved her home in Butte.

Dolly worked as a salesperson and manager in hardware stores in Butte and Anaconda, retiring in 1989 to spend more time with Ronnie, who semi-retired early when the Berkeley pit was closed in 1982.

Dolly loved to cook and bake and hosted many family gatherings in her home. She loved the holidays, and it gave her great joy to share her baked goods and candy by delivering trays to friends, neighbors and businesses around town. She also enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, hunting and, in her later years, gardening. Many summer weekends were spent camping at various lakes and rivers, and several summers were spent camping near Clatskanie, OR to spend time with their grandsons. During Ronny's illness and after his passing in 2006, she converted her back parking area into a beautiful, enviable flower and vegetable garden which she enjoyed sharing with all who passed by.

Dolly was an Oakland Raiders fan. She and her beloved sister Shirley (a Cowboys fan) were able to attend some fun-filled and memorable pro games together.

During Dolly's life she cherished her many cats and dogs which gave her so much love, joy and companionship.

Dolly enjoyed life and was a fighter. She spent the last five months of her life at BeeHive Homes in Butte where she received excellent, loving care from Kat, Katie, Kenzie, Kimmie and Rachel, and from Frontier Hospice. Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to each of them. Dolly is now in the arms of Jesus, whole and content.

Dolly's parents, brothers Jimmy and Earl Smidt, and stepson Steven R. Aamold preceded her in death.

She is survived by her sister Shirley Britton of Butte, MT, brother Leo (Jan) Smidt of Bonnie Lake, WA, stepbrother Jerry (Mary) Smidt and stepsister Marilyn (Bob) Olson of Butte, MT , stepdaughters Gayle (Garry Spitzer) Hokanson and Rhonda Mosteller of Bozeman, MT grandsons Lance (Natashia) Ek and Aaron Ek of Walla Walla, WA, granddaughters Heidi (Brian) Morrison and Aimee Hokanson of Bozeman, MT, great grandsons Logan, Tristan and Aiden Ek of Walla Walla, WA, several nephews and nieces and dear friend and neighbor Cindy Cohan.

Interment will be at Stanford Cemetery, Stanford, MT. A remembrance get-together of Dolly's life will be held at a later date, yet to be determined.
