Private family services will be held at Runge Mortuary in Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa.
Helen Mae Blocker was born October 15, 1932, in Davenport, the daughter of Charles and Minnie (Druehl) Blocker. She grew up in a large family with six sisters and one brother. She married Harold Otto Ahrens on October 22, 1949. Together they built a house in 1960 where they raised their four children. She was a homemaker and volunteered for many years for the American Lung Association and was active with Boy Scouts. She also held many positions at Hayes Elementary School's PTA, including President. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, card games and driving to Las Vegas with Harold twice a year. Harold preceded her in death on January 18, 2009.
Surviving are one daughter, Dee Ann Ahrens; three sons, Danny (Susan) Ahrens, David (Teresa) Ahrens and Dennis (Lisa) Ahrens; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one granddaughter, Brandi Sue Ahrens.
