Shirley N. Reicks, 87, of Davenport passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Silver Crest Assisted Living center, Davenport.

Shirley was born on September 14, 1930, the daughter of Charles and Minnie (Druhl) Blocker in Davenport. She was raised part of a large family seven girls and one boy. In her younger years she worked at Woolworths, Riefes and The Old Mill ice cream shop where she met her future husband Melvin "Red" F. Reicks Sr. She and Melvin "Red" were united in marriage in 1947. She devoted her life to her family and enjoyed caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley enjoyed embroidering, quilting, cooking, baking, watching NASCAR races, spending time with family and she really loved holidays, especially Christmas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; twin sons, Melvin Jr. and Billy and five sisters. The family would like give special thanks to Shirley's nurse at Slivercrest, Mandy and the staff at Silvercrest for providing such loving care.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 pm on Monday, October 23, 2017 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel.
