Spotsylvania, VA - Dennis Aanderud, age 78 of Spotsylvania, VA, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2021, with his family at his side. He was born in Munising, MI on January 18, 1943. His strong faith sustained him through a long and difficult illness which he faced with courage and determination.

In the military, Dennis was stationed in Paris with the Army Signal Corp. In his civilian career, he took long term work assignments in Alaska, Arizona, Florida, the Bahamas and Tehran, Iran. Photography was a lifelong hobby. One of his work assignments was photographing the Alaska pipeline.

Dennis enjoyed playing guitar and singing gospel music, especially with his friend Joe, and for his Christian brothers in their fellowship groups. He was very handy and liked to work on home projects. He spent hours in his workshop assembling a 5-foot balsa wood Spitfire airplane. He had fond memories of time spent as an auxiliary Deputy with the Prince William County Sheriff's Office on the motor squad. He went on mission trips including a trip to Haiti which was very impactful to him. He enjoyed playing pool, cards, and other games. Dennis was an avid skier and tennis player for many years. He also loved spending time in the mountains.
