Clara Fresh Abbott, 89, of Scottsburg, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Scott Villa Living Center in Scottsburg.

She was born Sept. 13, 1915, in Saluda, the daughter of Charles and Mamie Long Fresh. She was raised in Jefferson County, but lived most of her life in Scott County. She was a retired bookkeeper at the old Russ Super Service in Scottsburg for 23 years. She was a former active member and treasurer for the American Cancer Society, and a former Sunday School teacher at the Scottsburg First Baptist Church.

Surviving are one daughter, Wilda A. Preble of Scottsburg; one grandson, and one granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, William E. Abbott, in 1995.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today, and after 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research, care of the funeral home.
