Beve Abner, 81, of Poplar Creek, Barbourville, Ky., died Saturday, April 10, 2004, at his home.

He was born June 19, 1922, in Oolitic, the son of Finley and Cordy Trent Abner. He was a retired employee of General Motors Corp., a member of the Parkway Baptist Church in Barbourville, and a former member of Harvest Baptist Church in Cincinnati. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of the North Bend, Ohio, Masonic lodge, No. 346. He was formerly a member of Price Hill Lodge No. 524, for more than 45 years, having served as past master three times. He was a member of the Shriners in Cincinnati.

Surviving are his wife, Rose E. Runyon Abner; one daughter, Linda M. Spann of Jeffersonville; one son, Denver R. Abner of Cincinnati; three sisters, Sue Kehres of Michigan, Doris Moore of Alexandria, Ky., and Joann Sprinkles of Barbourville; one brother, John D. Abner of Girdler, Ky.; and six grandchildren, including Ty A. Bowling and Ryan Spann, both of Madison.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Deanna Davidson; two sisters, Ruth Ramsey and Hazel Davis; and one brother, Charles Abner.

Services will be at 1 p.m. EDT Tuesday at the Hopper Funeral Home in Barbourville, with burial in the Croley Cemetery in Knox County, Ky.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. EDT today, and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. EDT Tuesday, at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted at 7 p.m. EDT today at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Tri-County Hospice.
