Robert Hill Abernathy, 80, died Sunday at a local hospital.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Roger Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Oneal Cemetery.
Mr. Abernathy was a native of Limestone County, retired from Eastern Michigan University and was a member of the Northside Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Abernathy; two daughters, Martha Thompson and Jane Barksdale, both of Athens; two sons, Larry Abernathy of Elkmont and James E. Abernathy of Athens; one sister, Ruby Lawler of Athens; four brothers, Kenneth Abernathy of South Carolina and Billy Abernathy, Van Abernathy and Willard Abernathy, all of Athens; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
