She was a Hutchinson resident since 1947, moving from New Mexico. She was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the Medical Corps. She had attended Salt City Business College, and was retired from Hutchinson Community College in the custodial department. She attended St. Teresa's Catholic Church.
She married Mauro "Morris" Garcia on February 13, 1947 in Hutchinson, he died September 20, 2003. Survivors include her daughter, Karen Godina (Phillip), Hutchinson, two sisters, Katie Garcia, Rociada, NM, Rachel Johnson, Denver, CO, brother, LeRoy Abeyta, Ledoux, NM; two grandchildren, Joseph Godina (Amy), Rebecca Godina; five great-grandchildren, Jaelen Godina, Benjamin Godina, Jonah Godina, Natalie Bowlby, and Lucy Godina, and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by nine sisters and four brothers.
Parish rosary followed by a scripture service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, October 19, 2015 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel with Father Mike Maybrier officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Saturday and 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Reno County or Trinity Catholic Jr./Sr. High School.
