Funeral services were conducted fron the Methodist Church in Gary, SD. Tuesday afternoon following brief rites at the farm home. The Rev. William Cascini was assisted by the Rev. Jarman of DeSmet, former pastor of the church. Pallbearers were Guy, Irving, Harold, and Perry Heaton, Wendell Bailey, and Ted Houk of New Orleans. Burial was made in Grandview Cemetery.
Lewis Heaton was born October 9, 1909 at Sterling, ND, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ward P. Heaton. When he was six years old the family moved to the Gary Community. He attended rural school in Dist. 57 and Gary High School.
He was married October 6, 1934 to Helen Bailey in Gary, and they made their home on a farm in the Gary community which was their home ever since.
Surviving are his widow and five children: Kennith, 14; Grace, 12; Edith Mary, 11; Lewis Alan, 9; and Janice 6. Also surviving are four brothers and four sisters: Guy of Baudette; Mrs Wells Cole (Bertha) of Gary; Irving of Gary; Harold of Big Spring, Texas; Mrs. Maurice Peden (Pearl); Mrs. Herman Schutjer (Clarice); Perry; and Mrs Ted Bresson (Louise) of Gary.
