Graveside services for La Trielle Abbey, 90, were held at the Salmon Cemetery 4 August 2000. LaTrielle passed away 31 July 2000 at the Portneuf Valley Care Center in Pocatello, Idaho. She was born 10 June 1910 in Challis, Idaho, a daughter of Charlie and Ora Belle Jones Holland. She grew up and received her schooling in the area. LaTrielle married Edward R. Abbey in Salmon on 25 October 1926. The couple homesteaded a ranch up Carmen Creek that was later sold to Glen McFarland. They then purchased part of the Eddy Malloy Ranch on Carmen Creek and made their home there until 1946 when they moved to the Bitterroot Valley. They settled on a ranch west of Darby, Montana and remained there for about five years. They returned to Salmon and lived on a place just east of town. Later they purchased the Eli Basin Ranch up the Salmon River where they lived until 1961 when they moved to Salmon. She went to work for the Salmon Bakery and later for Steele Memorial Hospital. Mr. Abbey passed away in 1965. She continued to make her home in Salmon until 1993 when due to poor health she moved to Inkom to reside with her daughter, Laura. During her younger years she enjoyed fishing and loved dancing, crocheting, embroidery and visiting with friends. LaTrielle is survived by two daughters, Cora Currie of Anaconda, Montana and Laura Germer of Inkom, Idaho; ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Aso surviving are two brothers, Charles Holland of Olympia, Washington and Bob Holland of Butte, Montand and her former sister-in-law, Ida Fay Sauvageau of Caldwell, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Rose Barney and Belle Hawkins. Burial took place in the Salmon Cemetery under the direction of the Jones and Casey Funeral Home.
