She was the daughter of the late Lyle C. Clark and the former Ella Roach. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold R. Clark, on Dec. 13, 1971. Mrs. Townsend had resided most of her life in the Savannah area and was a graduate of Savannah High School, class of 1932. She was married March 28, 1937, in Savannah to Carl L. Townsend, who survives of the home. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Savannah.
Surviving, besides her husband, are two sons, Dick Townsend of Rosendale and Herb Townsend of Sedalia; a sister, Betty Abbett of St Joseph; a brother, Orval Clark of Savannah; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were conducted Sept. 5, 1989, in the Breit & Hawkins Chapel with Rev. Doyle Farmer officiating. Interment was in the Savannah Cemetery." Savannah Reporter and Andrew County Democrat (Savannah, Missouri), September 7, 1989
