Born October 4, 1927 in Bleckley County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Charlie W. and Lucile Johnson Abney. Roberta graduated from Perry Business School and attended Truett McConnell College and North Georgia Technical College. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she had served on various committees. Roberta taught Sunday School in the Preschool, Junior, and Adult Departments and served as WMU Director for many years. She was retired from WABCO with 31 years of service. She was also a member of the Stephens County Hospital Auxiliary and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Later she retired from the Stephens County Clerk of Courts Office and then worked part-time at Wal-Mart in Toccoa for 5 years. Roberta was an Alumni of the Leadership of Toccoa Class of 2002.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John V. Crunkleton who passed in 2000; and two sisters, Abbie Dixon and Jean Bartel.
The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 5pm – 7pm Friday, February 24, 2023.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Andy Childs and Dr. John Crunkleton officiating.
Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens.
Grandsons and Great-Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
