Anne Marbold Abbott, 82, of Springfield, formerly of Petersburg, died at 9:40 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Hospice.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1906, in Greenview, the daughter of Harmon J. and Emma E. Miller Marbold.

She married Richard H. Abbott in 1928.

She was a member of Central United Presbyterian Church, Petersburg, and Kings Daughters.

Before her retirement in 1972 from the state Department of Public Aid after 25 years of service, she worked on the WPA and the Selective Service Board in Menard County.

A daughter, Betsy Abbott, died in 1933.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Swinehart of Los Alamitos, Calif.; one son, Richard H. of Ann Arbor, Mich.; three grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Ennenga of Petersburg; and four nieces.

Remains were cremated.

Hurley Funeral Home, Petersburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Private graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Elmwood Cemetery, Greenview, with the Rev. Ken Churchill officiating.
