Jo Anne was born at the Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California on September 12, 1953 to Lt. Col Joseph Paratore (Marine Corps Ret) and Gladys (Midge) (Thornton).
She was the eldest of 5 children and was predeceased by the love of her life and husband Michael Adkinson, her parents, Joe and Midge Paratore, and brother, Leon.
She is survived by her brothers Mike Paratore, Joe (Amy) Paratore, sister Mary Ann (James) Kupar, and brother John (Tiffany) Paratore;
11 nephews and nieces: Brian, Jackie, Charles, Jake, T.J., Caitlin, Daniel, Tucker, Madeline, Cameron, and Charlotte;
3 great nieces: Hazel, Ali and Kate; and 2 great nephews: Miles and Tye;
numerous cousins, and too many friends to count.
Jo Anne grew up in a military family and was accustomed to moving every two years until her dad retired in Arlington, Virginia.
She married in 1986 and lived in Vero Beach, Florida until the sudden death of her husband in 1995.

Later, Jo Anne provided comfort, compassion, and company to her parents during their twilight years.

She enjoyed more than anything else to attend family gatherings no matter the occasion, and unique outings with her friends.

Jo Anne was always the first person picked to partner with for trivia games and the last person you would want to challenge while watching Jeopardy! She had an amazing ability to remember dates & events and was known as the family historian. She loved doing crossword puzzles, reading, and watching classic movies.

Jo Anne will be missed by her family and friends for her calm, reassuring demeanor, but especially for her endless love and concern for all that she knew.

Rest in peace dear sister, you will remain in our hearts forever.

A Roman Catholic Mass will be held on Saturday, December 17 at St. Bridget of Ireland in Berryville, Virginia at 11:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Life to immediately follow in the parish hall. A graveside service at Cool Spring Natural Cemetery at Holy Cross Abbey in Berryville will be at 2:30 p.m.
