Dabby Abdo, 78, Mahnomen, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1998, in Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home.

Dabby Abdo was born July 21, 1919, the son of Abraham and Seeby Abdo, in Bonetraill, N.D., where he attended school. He farmed near Bonetraill and worked at several jobs, including selling cookware and roofing and siding products, running a hot dog stand in Bakersfield, Calif., and unloading freight cares from Texas. He married Mae Goodwin on Nov. 21, 1948, in Williston. He sold his land and moved to the Mahnomen area. He worked for Ness Construction, Mahnomen and several construction jobs in North Dakota from 1948 to 1958. From 1958 until his retirement in 1978, he was a feeder pig buyer and jockeyed horses. He entered the nursing home in December 1995. Mae Abdo died in 1989.

He is survived by sons, Warren "Rusty" (Karla), Dilworth, Minn. and Keith (Debbie), Mahnomen; a daughter, Beverly (Stanley) Gunderson, Mahnomen; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mabel Boekes, Williston.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter; four sisters; and three infant brothers.

Services: 10 a.m. today in First Lutheran Church, Mahnomen.

Visitation: One hour before services in the church.

Burial: Riverside Memorial Park, Mahnomen (Mattson, Mahnomen).
