She was born on December 15th, 1957, to the late Willie Floyd Buchanan and the late Barbara "Bobbie" Jean Buchanan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Samuel "Sammy" Green Abernathy; son, Samuel Abernathy Jr.; sister Sarah Alice Buchanan; brothers, Victory Lamont Buchanan, Bobby Charles Buchanan, Willie James Buchanan, and Vincent Edward Buchanan.
Mrs. Elaine Abernathy attended the Maury County School system and worked at Willie's Wings as a cook, until she became unable to. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, dancing, blues music, and watching her favorite TV shows.
She leaves to cherish her memory. Grandsons Corbin and Kylan Clack; sister, Eloise Buchanan; brother William (Becky) Buchanan; grandmother, Bessie Armstrong, sisters-in-law, Sandra Kay Abernathy, Edith Abernathy, Bettey Abernathy, Daisy Abernathy, Wibby Abernathy; aunts, Debbie Pillow, Brenda Johnson, and Catherine Buchanan; Uncles, Larry (Sandra) Maxwell, Steve (Vivian) Armstrong, Tommy Buchanan, and Melvin "Pee-Wee" Morrison; As well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.
The body will lie in state Wed from 5 to 7 pm and Thurs from 10 to 12noon at Baxter Bros Funeral Home. Graveside services Thurs 1 pm at Rosemount Cemetery.
