She was born September 25, 1933 in Simpson, Kansas, the daughter of Dave and Helen Lyon Shaffer.
Mary Jo married Bob Abell May 28, 1953 in Lincoln, Kansas at ST. Patrick's Catholic Church.
She was a Bank teller at Barnard State Bank and Bank of Tescott from which she retired. She grew up attending St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lincoln, Kansas. She was a member of the Catholic Altar Society and was very involved with the Catholic parish.
Mary Jo was married for 65 years to her husband Bob. She is survived by her husband, one daughter Leesa (Ron) and 5 sons Robert (Connie), David (Marla), Monte (Jacque), Mark (Roberta) and Brett, 20 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
All services will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Lincoln Kansas. A Public visitation will be held Wednesday February 20th from 4-6PM and the public is invited to a 7PM Rosary Service.
The funeral mass will be Thursday February 21, 2019 at 10 AM. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. A luncheon will be served after the burial at St. Patrick's Parish Hall.
Memorial Contributions may be sent to St. Patrick's Church (for equipment) or Hospice of Salina Kansas.
