Edward Charles Ackerman, 72, of Brewster Kansas, passed away on December 22, 2023.

Ed was born on February 5, 1951 to Raymond W. and Mary Eleanor (Ring) Ackerman in Dodge City, Kansas. He grew up on the family farm near Windthorst, KS. After graduating from Windthorst HS in 1969, he went to St. Mary College in Dodge City, Kansas.

After college he started his lifelong career in agriculture and developing his business in custom harvesting, custom silage, farming and ranching.

Ed married Toni (Mann) on March 25, 1991. Ed came into the marriage with his daughter Amanda. Toni came to the marriage with her four children, Travis, Tracy, Kim, and Karla. Together Ed and Toni had Seth which makes the entire family not exactly the Brady Bunch, but together they were able to make it work.

Anyone who knew Ed knew that he was the most loving father and grandfather that you could ask for. Some of his favorite activities included talking to friends and neighbors, going to the grocery store for the gossip of the day, running the combine during harvest, and supervising all the work while sitting on his stool. You would frequently find Ed, in his recliner enjoying MASH or the Weather Channel.

He was a lifelong devout Catholic, also a member of Knights of Columbus. He was an active member of the Brewster Lions Club, and in the Brewster community.

Ed was predeceased in death by his parents, sister Diane Cain, and his brother Larry Ackerman.

He is survived by his 3 sisters; 2 brothers: Sister in law; one daughter; one son; 4 Step-children; 14 grandchildren; and one great grandson; along with 18 nieces and nephews.
