Major League Baseball Player. Born Stephen Robert Staggs, he was raised in California where he attended Bellflower High School. He enrolled at Cerritos College prior to being drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 1970. He would be redraft by the Oakland Athletics and Kansas City Royals, before ending up with the Toronto Blue Jays as part of baseball's expansion draft in 1976. He earned the starting second baseman role and had the distinction of being on the Blue Jays' roster during their inaugural season of 1977. In 72 games played, he produced a career-high 75 hits. He concluded his career in 1978 with the Oakland Athletics. In 119 career regular season games, he compiled 94 hits, with a .255 lifetime batting average. After retiring from baseball, he worked as a business consultant in Texas.
