Actor. Born in southwestern Indiana, he studied while attending the University of Evansville in his hometown. Whilst completing his education there, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served overseas during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge from the Armed Forces, he began his acting career in 1971, taking the stage at the Pittsburgh Playhouse venue. Four years later, Emge made his film debut when he played a small cameo role in the John A. Russo film, "The Booby Hatch." The following year he relocated from Pennsylvania to New York City where he took a job as a chef in one of the cities restaurants. It was there that Emge met the legendary horror film director, George Romero. In 1978 Romero would release the second in his "Living Dead" series, "Dawn of the Dead." For this film, he cast Emge in what would become his most recognized role, Stephen "Flyboy" Andrews, the doomed helicopter pilot who holes up with a group of surivors in a zombie infested mall. Other films in which he appeared included 1990's horror comedy, "Basket Case 2" and 1992's "Hellmaster." In later years, Emge celebrated his most famous role, becoming known as a fan favorite at numerous horror conventions across the country.
