Actor. He will perhaps be remembered for his Academy Award nominated performance in the film "Bus Stop" (1956), in which he co-starred opposite Marilyn Monroe. Born to parents with backgrounds in the entertainment industry, his father was a stage manager and director and his mother was a Ziegfeld Girl, Don was raised in New York. He attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and acquired experience in summer stock productions, prior to making his Broadway debut in the play "The Rose Tattoo" in 1951. During the Korean War, he served as a conscientious objector in Europe where he assisted refugees. Following his return home, he resumed his Broadway career in the production "Skin of Our Teeth" (1955). During this time, he caught the attention of filmmaker Josh Logan who cast him in "Bus Stop" which was his motion picture debut. Other notable films include "The Bachelor Party" (1957) and "The Hoodlum Priest" (1961). He starred in the television series "The Outcasts" (1968 to 1969). He was later known to TV audiences for the series "Knots Landing" (1979 to 1981). He was formerly married to actress Hope Lange. Murray was the recipient of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (6385 Hollywood Boulevard) in 1960.
