She was born Oct. 29, 1930, in Salisbury, where she lived her childhood. She was a teacher, homemaker, mother, volunteer and partner in the work of her husband, the late Nelson F. Adams, who was minister of music at the First United Methodist Church of Brevard and director of the fine arts department at Brevard College for 20 years. They moved to Georgetown, Texas, for a short tenure with Southwestern University's fine arts department. In 1975, she sustained significant injuries in a car accident and her husband died. She returned to North Carolina and has lived with her son's family for the past 19 years.
She is survived by her three children, Richard of Brevard, Sandy of Shelton, Wash., and Kristy of Centreville, Va.; six grandchildren; and five brothers and sisters.
A memorial will be held to celebrate her life at 4 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church of Brevard. The Revs. N. Fred Jordan Jr. and John Boggs will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to support the Beulah Zachary McMinn Organ Fund, First United Methodist Church, 500 Broad St., Brevard, N.C. 28712.
