Mr Benjamin Abbott passed away at the family home in Gas this morning at 6:00 o'clock after a long illness. He suffered a stroke or paralysis in September and has been in very poor health since that time. He has been critically ill for the past two weeks.

Funeral services help from the home in Gas at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon.

According to Ancestry, Benjamin was born in Miami County, Indian to George Washington Abbott and Mary Caruthers. In 1851, he was a resident of Iowa. Mr. Abbott serviced in the Civil Ware from 1861-1865 for the 1st Illinois Cavalry (Illinois Civil War Muster & Descriptive Rolls). Mr. Abbott married Arie Beals in Pottawattamie County, Iowa on Apr 19, 1868. By 1871, the family had moved to Kansas
