Lawrence Wadena was born Nov. 21, 1926, the son of George and Josephine (Gwinn) Wadena, in White Earth, Minn. He lived with his family in Naytahwaush, Minn, until 1934, when they moved to Warroad, Minn., where he attended school. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Karen Vik in Ebro, Minn. He worked as a logger in the Warroad area. In 1974, he moved to Blaine, Minn, where he worked as a welder for Butler Manufacturing in Minneapolis. They moved to Bemidji in 1979.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Scott, Bemidji, Larry, Everett Wash; daughters, Sonia, Bemidji, Linda Londo, Naytahwaush; a brother Alrick, Naytahwaush , a sister, Georgina Accobee, Naytahwaush; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded at the death by his parents; three brothers; two sisters; a son; and a great-granddaugther.
Services: 2 p.m., Thursday in Evangelical Free Church Bemidji.
Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m., Wednesday with a 7 p.m. prayer service, in Mattson Funeral Home, Mahnomen, and one hour before service in the church.
Burial: Free Gospel Alliance Cemetery, Naytahwaush.
