Pattie Jeffreys Adams Jones, age 82, of 208 Irvin Drive, went to be with her precious Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999. She was a native of Fox Hill and a retired teacher and librarian for Isle of Wight County Public Schools. Mrs. Jones was a member of Bacon's Castle Baptist Church, the Colonel William Allen Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Woman's Auxiliary of George F. Dashiell Post No. 49, American Legion, and several bridge clubs. Mrs. Jones was a graduate of Longwood College with a B.S. degree and did graduate work at the College of William and Mary.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husbands, former Mayor Audrey T. Adams and John Pollard Jones Jr.; and her parents, the Rev. Walter Addison and Caroline Phillips Jeffreys.

Survivors include her daughter, Betty Suzanne Adams, and son, Thomas Jeffreys Adams, both of Smithfield; and two nephews, Taylor Jeffreys of Richmond and William Jeffreys of New York.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Smithfield, with the Rev. James Acree officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 9, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home and suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 97, Smithfield, VA 23431-0097.
