EDENTON - Sybil Chappell Adams, 89, of the 1000 block of N. Broad St., died March 28, 2006, in Chowan Hospital. Ms. Adams was the daughter of the late Cornelia M. Chappell and John O. Chappell and was the wife of the late William W. Adams Sr. She was a member of the Edenton United Methodist Church. Ms. Adams provided childcare for numerous children in her home over the years.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Adams Davis and her husband Talmage of Suffolk; her son, William W. Adams Jr. and his wife Leona of Newport News; her brother, David L. Chappell and his wife Eula of Belvidere, N.C.; four grandchildren, Jonathon Davis and wife Shelley, Cheryl Adams Toms and her husband Dwight, Catherine Adams and Frances Adams; and six great-grandchildren, Lindsey Toms, Lauren Toms, Alexandra Adams, Grace Davis, Jonathon "Jack" Davis and Leah Davis.
Ms. Adams was also preceded in death by her son, Lloyd V. Adams and her brother, Hubert Chappell.

A celebration of Ms. Adams' life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Edenton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Huskins officiating. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Evans Funerals and Cremations Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
