Elaine was born on September 7, 1924 to Edwin & Ruth (Erickson) Moe. She was raised on the family farm near Astoria and attended and graduated from Astoria High School.
Elaine was united in marriage to William Robert Elmore on December 27, 1943 at the Singsaas Lutheran Church parsonage, Hendricks, MN. The couple lived and farmed near Astoria, SD while raising their family. In 1982 they moved into Astoria, SD. Robert passed away October 7, 2003.
In 2004 Elaine moved to the Villa's in Hendricks, MN. On July 13, 2006 she entered the Hendricks Nursing Home. Ruth Elaine Elmore departed the world on August 20, 2008 at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 13 days to be with her Lord where she will be free from pain and suffering.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Astoria. Elaine was also a member of the church choir and the Norwegian Choir.
She enjoyed music, crocheting doilies, baking, playing Rook and writing poems. She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Elaine is lovingly remembered by three daughters: Barbara (Dennis) Messmer of Weatherford, OK, Kathleen (Chester) Grube of Marietta, MN and Sandra (Philip) Schneiderhan of Katy, TX; eight grandchildren: Monica (John) Tunnell, Derek Messmer, Keith Grube, Paul Grube, Brent (Patty) Grube, Mark, Eric and Robert Schneiderhan; eight great-grandchildren: Claire and Connor Tunnell, Amanda Styron, Kacie, Riley, Austin and Kaylin Grube, Joseph Schneiderhan; one brother: Carroll (Diann) Moe of Watertown, SD; two sisters: Ann (Lyle) Aaberg of Brookings, SD, Oriette Lenander of White, SD; two sister's-in-law: Janet Moe, Brookings, SD, Doris Elmore of Titusville, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Edwin and Ruth, husband: William Robert Elmore, one brother: ElRoy Moe, and one sister: Merrill Peterson.
Funeral services will be Sunday, August 24, 2008 at the Bethel Lutheran Church, Astoria, SD. Rev. Duane Baun will officiate.
Burial will be in the Toronto Cemetery, Toronto, SD. Pallbearers will be: Paul Grube, Brent Grube, Derek Messmer, Robert Schneiderhan, Duane Moe and Dennis Chapin.
