Funeral services for the Rev. James L. Whitley were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, from the Horeb Baptist Church in Talbot County. Interment was in the Pine Level Cemetery near Mauk,
The Rev. Whitley, for many years a resident of the county, where he served churches throughout the county, was 85 years of age. He died Thursday night in Thomaston where he had made his home for some time. He had been in declining health for several months.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. W.L. Bussey of Edison, Mrs. C. W. Hayes and Mrs. L. H. Hutchinson of Thomaston, Mrs. J. B. Kersey and Mrs. C. E. Abbott of Mauk; five sons, Talmadge Whitley of Decatur, Rev. J. G. Whitley of Barnesville, E. B., Andres and Rev. H. E. Whitley all of Mauk one brother, W. O. Whitley Sr. of Mauk and 22 grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Sonny Whitley, Junior Whitley, Allen Wilson, W. O. Bussey, Rudolph Kersey and George Hayes.
