A native of Pine Hill, AL, he was born on April 2, 1938. In 1960 he relocated to Lucedale where he resided until his death. In November of 1960, he married his wife and to this union four children were born. He worked at Ingalls Shipyard for many years and retired in 1995. A member of the Lily Grove Baptist Church, he died on October 8, 2003.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Abrams and his parents, Jenkins Sr. and Carrie Abrams.
He is survived by two sons, Tony Abrams of Columbia and Paul Abrams of Lucedale; two daughers, Paula (Willie) McIntyre and Satonya Davis of Pascagoula; six grandchildren, Latressa, Shirrecca, Makeiths, Ahalysia, Juan,and Paul; a devoted loving friend, Ellen Mosely; a brother, Sylvester (Easter) Abrams of Calvert, AL; three sisters, Eula Mae McDonald, Carrie Lee (Leon) Young of Calvert, AL, and Vivian (Herbert) Henderson of Mount Vernon, AL; a sister-in-law, Ernie Mae Estes; a special aunt, Mattie B. Chestang, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
Interment was in the Lily Grove Cemetery with Rev. Willie Klien officiating the services. Pallbearers were Sammie Lawrence, Doug Lawrence, Sherman Hill, Jack Riley, MSGT Michael Mosley, and Lindsey Wells. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Abrams, Makeiths Davis, Leon Young, Paul Abrams, Sylvester Abrams, and Hurbert Henderson. Flower bearers were family and friends.
