She was born June 20, 1922, in Granite City, daughter of Morris H. and Gertrude (Freeman) Wolfe.
She was raised in Granite City and graduated there in 1940. She married James Lowery Abbott on June 20, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo. They spent their married life in Jerseyville raising their five children.
A servant in every aspect of the word, she was a loving wife and mother, a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, serving in many capacities as a member of the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville, namely as a Sunday school teacher and a member of their women's ministries. In addition to being "everything" to her children, she also willingly assisted her husband in the family business, Abbott Auto Body.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James, on Oct. 20, 2004; her son, David Abbott on Jan. 20, 1997; a son-in-law, George "Jugger" Dunham; a great-grandson, Jared LaPlant; a sister, Muriel Lindsay; and two brothers, Freeman and the Rev. Robert Wolfe.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
The Rev. Randy Cartwright will officiate at services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the First Assembly of God Church in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be given to two passions in her life, her church, the First Assembly of God, or to the Jerseyville Public Library, where the staff was very accommodating to her with her love of reading.
