Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the Rev. John Barone the celebrant.
Burial will follow in Riverside cemetery.
Visitation at the chapel 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr. Gertner was born Jan. 6, 1897, in Folnwr, Russia, the son of Joseph and Anna Marie Sauer Gert ncr and came to the United States with the family in 1912, settling in the Iliff-Proctor area. He was educated in the Iliff school, married Anna Ertle, Feb. 16, 1920 in Sterl ing and engaged in farming and agriculture until retiring in 1964.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
Mr. Gertner is survived by his wife, Anna Gertner of Sterling; seven sons, John Gertner Jr., Gabriel Gertner, Marcus Gertner, Clarence Gertner, and Donald Gertner, all of Sterling, David Gertner of Denver, and Lawrence Gertner of Merino; six daughters, Anna Mary Bretz of Fleming, Josephine Amerin of Plains, Kan., Sister Leonette of Union Grove, Wis., Virginia Amerin of Johnson, Kan., Clara Marie of Sterling, and Margaret Clapham of Denver; a brother, Alexander Gertner; two sisters, Elizabeth Hoozee, both of Sterling, and Anna Blaufauss of Westpfalia, Kan.; 61 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
Tennant-Hettinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
