Services were 3 p.m., Tuesday, October 17, 1995, at Colonial Chapel in Mendenhall with burial in Kennedy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall handled the arrangements.
Mrs. Abernathy was a native of Simpson County and a member of Kennedy Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include son, M.T. Shows, Sr. of Brandon; daughter, Lucille Hutchinson of Fairfox, S.C.; brothers, Vardama Stewart, Walter Bynum, both of Magee; sisters, Mary Bullock of Jackson, Wilma Kennedy of Puckett, Bessie King of Magee, Lois Lange of Atlanta, Georgia; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
