Funeral services were 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 9, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. The Rev. Richard Nelson officiated at the services. Burial was in Morgan Township Cemetery, Schleswig, Iowa.
Frances Clara Emilie Burk was born on May 18, 1911, in Morgan Township, Crawford County, Iowa, the daughter of Charley and Emma (Petersen) Burk. She was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in the Christian faith. She spent her formative years on a farm near Schleswig. Frances received her formal education in the rural schools near her home.
She married Raymond Abbe on December 21, 1932, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Township. Together they made their home on a farm in Grant Township until 1966, when they retired and moved into Schleswig. In December 1982, they ceelebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond; one sister, LuVern Schnieder of Battle Creek; one sister-in-law, Hedwig Abbe of Schleswig; one niece, Sandra (Paul) Burton of Danbury; and one nephew, Orlan (Darlene) Abbe.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
