Charlotte was the daughter of Edward and Harriett (Browning) West.

Charlotte West Ackerley was born at Painswick, England, June 26, 1833, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Peterson, at Independence, Mo., Jan 16, 1918, aged 84 years, 6 months, and 20 days.

She was married to Mr. Samuel Ackerley at St. Louis, Mo., May 17, 1855, and to this union were born nine children, five of whom are living: Mrs. Helen Herold of Shenandoah, Iowa; J.E. Ackerley of Grand River, Iowa; T.W. Ackerley of Kingston, Mo.; A.L. Ackerley of Leon, Iowa; Mrs. J.W. Peterson of Independence, Jo. All of her children were with her during the last few days of her illness. She leaves children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to the number of 60 to mourn her loss.
Her remains were brought to Lamoni and buried by the side of her husband, who died in 1901.

Notes: Charlotte (Ackerley) was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1847. She immigrated to Utah in 1855 and by 1864 she had moved to Wisconsin. She was baptized and confirmed a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 15 August 1865 at Crawford County, Wisconsin, by Reuben Newkirk. She attended the Lamoni, Iowa Branch. She moved to Decatur County, Iowa, in 1871.
