IDEAL CORNERS—Josephine Olson, daughter of Carrie and Torjus Olson, was born at Ashby, Minn. on Nov. 30, 1874. She was baptized March 28, 1875, in the Pelican Lake church of Ashby, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in her early youth at Story City, Iowa. April 13, 1894, she was united in marriage to Rasmus E. Hauge at Nevada, Iowa. They lived in the vicinity of Story City, Iowa, for eight years, moving to a farm at Elmore, Minn. in 1910, where they lived for seven years. In 1917 they moved to Pequot Lakes, where she resided until death. She became active in the "ladies aid work" in the now Ideal Ladies Aid and was president of the Aid for several years. She passed away at her home on June 20, 1947, at the age of 72 years, six months and 20 days.
Funeral services were held at the Savior's Lutheran church in Pequot Lakes Monday, June 24th, and laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery, Rev. T. Mohn officiating. One son, Clarence, preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1941. She leaves to mourn her passing her beloved husband, Rasmus, and five children. Rose, Mrs. Edwin Holm of Elmore; Edward of Pequot Lakes; Ruth, Mrs. Orville Aas of The Dallas, Ore.; Roy, of Pequot Lakes, and Alice, Mrs. Arthur Hartwig of Brainerd, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral were Mrs. Rasmus Sandvick (sister of R. E. Hauge) and three sons, Arne, Roy and Elmer and wife and daughter of McCallsburg, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Holm (Rose) and two daughters and husband (Mr. and Mrs. Donald Clark and Mrs. and Mrs. Art Holland) of Elmore, and Mrs. and Mrs. Arthur Hartwig (Alice) and three children, Barbara, James and Donald, of Brainerd.
