Funeral services for Richard Omer (Dick) Weathers, 58, were conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:30 from the First Baptist Church in Luders, Texas, followed by burial in the Luders Cemetery.
Mr. Weathers died Tuesday morning in Baylor Hospital in Dallas where he had been a patient for one week. He had been ill for the past month, during which time he was in the home of Rev. and Mrs. W. P. Rowland, his parents-in-law, and in an Ardmore hospital before being moved to Dallas.
He was born in Erath County, Texas, and moved to Love County when quite young where he grew to manhood in the New Hope and Shady Dale communities.
Mr. Weathers was married to Miss Martha Rowland in the home of her parents, Rev. and Mrs. W. P. Rowland, some 33 years ago. They had lived in Luders for the past six years where he was employed with an oil company. Mr. Weathers had been a member of the Baptist church for approximately 45 years.
Survivors are, his wife, Mrs. Martha Weathers of Luders; two sons, Ray Weathers of Aspermont, Texas and Jim Weathers of Rhome, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Cowley of Hobbs, New Mexico; two brothers, Turner Weathers of Causey, New Mexico, and Coleman Weathers of Frederick; and five grandchildren.
Lueders Cemetery is now Clear Fork Cemetery, a few miles SE of Lueders in Jones County, TX.
