Funeral services were also conducted June 2 from the chapel of Evans Mortuary in Rockwood, with the Rev. Pete Scarbrough officiating, and special music by the Daysville Baptist Church Quartet. Interment was in Daysville Cemetery.
Mrs. Gentry was born June 18, 1922, in Rockwood, TN, the daughter of George M. and Jesse Mulligan Lequire.
She was a floral designer, and retired from Abel Gardens. She was a member of Daysville Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star, Rockwood, Pythian Sisters. She was a former member of the Cumberland County School Board, and was an active Girl Scout leader.
Survivors include her son, Raymond Abel Jr. and his lifetime partner, Pearl Haney, of Cookeville; daughters and sons-in-law, June and Donald Wofford, and Betty and Glen Lowe, all of Cookeville, and Jane and Ray Crawhorn of Kingston, TN; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Abel of Cookeville; stepchildren and their spouses, Carol and Jim Gatton, and John W. Jr. and Eulah Gentry, all of Cookeville, Una E. and Doyle Lafever of Baxter, TN, Pearl Marie and Eddie Hargis of Crossville, and Gordon A. Hall Jr. of Denver, CO; sister, Isabell Ross of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Travis Lowe, Eric Lowe and Randy Abel; and great-grandchildren, Adrienne Lowe, Michael Abel and Christopher Abel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George M. and Jesse Mulligan Lequire; husbands, Raymond Rodgers Abels and John V. Gentry Sr.; sister, Dorothy Bell; and brother, Tommy Lequire....
