Ellis Abner, 71, husband of Vounita Drake Abner, died at 4:30am Monday
at the Select Specialty Hospital in Lexington.
A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Tib and Lessie
Combs Abner. Mr. Abner was a retired horseman and a member and Deacon of
the Becknerville Baptist Church.
Additional survivors include 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Pamela and
Jimmy Wilson of Lexington, Teresa and Mark Goodin of Georgetown and
Kimberly Stewart of Everett, Washington; 4 grandchildren, Tessa Arnold,
Grant Goodin, Emily Wilson and Maggie Wilson; 2 great-grandchildren-,
Daniel Arnold and Madison Goodin; 2 brothers, Leonard Abner of Richmond
and Lester Abner of Lexington; 1 sister, Bertha Combs of Richmond and a
number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Abner was preceded in death by 2
brothers and 2 sisters.
Services will be conducted at 10:00am Thursday at Scobee Funeral Home by
Brother James McIntosh. Burial will be in the Cobb Hill Cemetery, Estill
County. Pallbearers will be Jamie McIntosh, Ivan Psimer II, Anthony
Psimer, W.R. Richardson, Billy Temple and Jeff Stewart. Honorary will be
Ken Wyatt, Ivan Psimer, Grant Goodin and Adam Arnold.
Visitation will be 6-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
